Toddler.se is an English-language guide for expats and international families raising small children in Sweden. We help you understand the Swedish system, from parental leave and preschool to health, food and the outdoor life, so the early years feel less daunting and a lot more joyful.
What we cover
Our focus is the toddler years, roughly ages one to three, and the practical questions that come with them in a new country. We explain how Swedish institutions work in plain English, link to the official sources so you can always check the detail, and write for real parents rather than search engines.
The guides span childcare and parental leave, child health, sleep, food, outdoor life, development and Swedish parenting culture.
How we work
We base our guides on official Swedish sources, including the Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan), the healthcare guide 1177, the Swedish Food Agency (Livsmedelsverket) and the National Agency for Education (Skolverket). Rules and figures change over time, so we link to the source and encourage you to confirm the current detail there. Nothing on this site is medical, legal or financial advice; for personal guidance, speak to your BVC nurse, healthcare provider or the relevant agency.
